Established in 2004 with the goal of regional cooperation, members of the Council of Asian Shopping Centers (CASC) work together to set standards for the industry.
The 2019 CASC Conference encouraged delegates to share case studies from around the region using the theme ‘The Now and The Future’ – The Mall Story. The conference took place in KL from September 10-12, 2019 and was organized by Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PERSATUAN PENGURUSAN KOMPLEKS MALAYSIA (PPK)). Many of our affiliates supported and endorsed the conference, including: Asosiasi Pengelola Pusat Belanja Indonesia (APPBI), Institute of Shopping Centre Management (ISCM) from Hong Kong, Mall China, Japan Council of Shopping Centers (JCSC) and Taiwan Council of Shopping Centers (TCSC).
Steven Leach Group was honored to be invited to speak at the conference – Mr. Donal Coyne, Managing Director of the Thailand office gave an insightful presentation titled “The Interior Wow Factors”,
which covered chapters on:
• Mall interior winning designs
• How and why do designs play a role in successful malls
• How to turnaround malls with non-optimum designs
• Case studies of some prominent malls
The joint effort between the BKK and KL offices allowed SL+A to contribute meaningfully to dialogue surrounding shopping mall management that spans across cultures, regions and shopping preferences.
