True hospitality is at the heart of their client InterContinental Hotels Group, and this was the focus of the design concept for the group’s renovated Shanghai office. Key to the project was embodying the group’s brand values of welcoming diversity, embracing innovation and creation, and acknowledging inheritance and mission. It was important that new ways of working were encouraged and embraced and users felt welcomed.
The lobby area with its elegant finish, inspired by the Regent brand, acts like a hotel concierge point, and presents visitors with a taste of IHG hospitality. Awards adorn a lit display wall, and plenty of relaxed seating is on offer. There is also a lounge and bar area, all individually designed and far removed from preconceived ideas of a traditional functional looking workspace. In addition, flexible meeting spaces, reflecting the design diversity of the IHG brands, include wireless charging points, state of the art video conferencing and a range of modern comfortable and interesting seating options.
